Points Of Interest On Galiano Island

Pebble Beach

From Bodega Ridge, travel south on Porlier Pass Road to McCoskie Rd. where you take a left. Follow McCoskie over the hill and park at the Pebble Beach Sign. From where you park it is about a 10-minute walk to the beach. This is an ideal beach for a picnic or for young children. It is a fine pebble beach and offers a view of North Galiano and the coastal mountains that you cannot find anywhere else.

Mount Galiano

This is a east to moderate hike that takes between 2 to 3 hours. We suggest that you allow longer to maximize your viewing pleasure when at the top. There are 3 ways to hike Mount Galiano.

Lord Trail

From Bodega head south on Porlier Pass Rd. Take a soft right on Clanton when you reach South Galiano. Next turn left on Montague Road where you will climb a steep hill and descend into a pasture area. Take a right at the 3-way intersection to Georgeson Bay Road. Next take a right turn on Morgan Road and a left on Lord Road. Look for the trailhead on your right. Park here.

The Hike: Follow Lord Trail up the hill until you meet gravel access road. Take a left here and a right soon after to Mount Galiano Trail. From here you have about another 20-30 minutes to go. Eventually you will arrive at what appears to be the top, do not be tricked! Hike another 5 minutes and you will be awarded with a most amazing view. Be sure to check out the Gary Oak trees and hike around to appreciate all the vantage points.

Mike's Trail

Follow the same directions as for Lord trail only instead of turning up Morgan you go another 100 Metres down Georgeson Bay Rd. Park by the trailhead. This is the least difficult of the three trails.

The Hike: Follow Mike's Trail up the hill until you arrive at a circular picnic table. This is where it meets the Mount Galiano Trail.

Mount Galiano Trail

Follow the same directions as for the above-mentioned trails only go further down Georgeson Bay Rd where you take a right turn on Active Pass Drive. This will lead you to the trailhead. Follow this trail all the way up the mountain.
