A Galiano Island Wedding

Bodega Ridge is located on Galiano Island, the sunniest and wildest of British Columbia’s Southern Gulf Islands. Just off the coast of BC and Washington State, we’re a short ferry and car drive from the mainland and the surrounding islands. You’ll feel worlds away without travelling far, making it an ideal location for a destination wedding.

A stay on Galiano wouldn’t be complete with our an excursion or two. We can organize activities for your guests, from kayak tours to whale watching. And, of course, there are a couple scenic hiking routes that begin right at our property, including the breathtaking Bodega Ridge. Give out-of-town guests a taste of west coast living with morning yoga on the lawn.


The Experience: Consultation & Coordination

We host numerous wedding celebrations throughout the year, and can help design a wedding that is uniquely yours. We can give you suggestions based on 12 years of experience and are happy to recommend trusted photographers, florists and other vendors. Making your wedding stress free is our top priority. We focus on the details so you and your guests can enjoy the experience.




Our seven, 3 bedrooms cabins accommodate a maximum of 42 guests. Within a short drive (or walk) there are many alternative sources of accommodation and it is possible to arrange transportation through the Galiano Bus Company to get guests staying elsewhere home safely to and from Bodega on the wedding night. 

We charge a flat rate of $400 per night for our cabins during all special events. When you book your wedding, we do require you to book all 7 cabins although payment can be taken care of by your guests upon departure. We provide you with a grounds map that includes all of the cabins so you can determine who stays where and with whom. 




With a Bodega Ridge Wedding, all resort amenities, resources and staff are at your disposal. Our 23 acres of rural countryside nestled at the quiet end of Galiano Island is your private paradise. Our pricing is based on a site fee, meals, beverages, an 18% service fee on all food & beverages. Please note that guest accommodation is not included in our wedding pricing as it is usually paid for by the guests themselves.

At Bodega Ridge, weddings are our focus and we are extremely well equipped for hosting your event. We own all our tables, chairs, wedding tent and other equipment that most venues would have you rent, saving you a great deal of money, time and coordination.  

Please note that we have a minimum guest requirement of 80 for all Shoulder & Peak Season weddings. 

Our Site Fees include:

  • Exclusive use of the 24 acre property, including the public areas of the lodge
  • Wedding consultation and assistance in planning
  • Dining hall seating up to 75
  • Outdoor dining for up to 150 guests under our 30’ by 40’ wedding tent (included from May 1 to Thanksgiving, additional charges if used in off-season) 
  • All tables, chairs, linens, china, flatware and glassware
  • LCD projector with 2 screen options (for indoor use only)
  • 2 Commercial sound systems.  Each with 2 large standup powered speakers, mixing board
  • Sound system for outdoor dining & ceremony site
  • Set up of wedding ceremony site, including custom cedar benches and signing table
  • Access to our list of preferred vendors. We do not charge commissions for referrals
  • Complete set up and take down, excluding decorations brought from off-site

Our chef has created a menu based on the best local ingredients we have access to including a huge array of vegetables that are grown on Galiano Island. The menus include a Friday night BBQ and two options for reception dinners.  Pricing starts at $30 for the BBQ or Paella, canapés start at $5/item for the wedding day cocktail hour and the reception dinner starts at $75/guest. 

With respect to beverages we have a fully stocked bar, a sophisticated but affordable wine list and 3 local craft beers on tap. Highballs & beer are $6, cocktails start at $10 and wine starts at $40/bottle. There is a minimum spend of $3000 on the reception evening and there is a service fee of 18% on all food and beverages. If you have a favourite cocktail we can easily incorporate it into the evening or we can provide you a list of our own cocktails to select from.

We have a great deal of experience with coordinating weddings with couples that live abroad and are more than happy to handle organizing additional planning support, flowers and any other requests that you may wish to have us take care of.

“We chose Bodega Ridge for our wedding last year. Upon speaking to Jesse and seeing the site first hand, it became quickly obvious that this was the 'good fit' we had been looking for. Jesse's easy going manner put our anxieties at ease. Jesse listened. He was able to hear out our expectations and facilitate everything we needed and more. He didn't come out, sales pitch ablaze, talking about how awesome Bodega Ridge was and how he deserved our money. Moreover, he did not bad mouth the others we had already seen and considered (even if they were easy to poke fun at!). In a word, he was very professional. 

By all accounts, the product itself never disappointed, as in so many instances when an experience is incongruent with its own branding. Quite the opposite: the Bodega Ridge experience was very much the delivery of what was promised on the website and in consultation with Jesse. 

Nothing was hidden, we felt like we could make use of the property and see the best it had to offer. Amazing, did I add. 

Most importantly however, Jesse was a lovely host to our families and friends. He personally oversaw nearly everything and stayed completely focused, yet remained almost completely in the background. Even though I was busy, one thing I did notice was how excellently he treated his staff. That's always a hallmark of a good guy and a good business. The food, by the way, was excellent. I am still thinking about it now. 

As a person in marketing myself, I admire Jesse for being transparent, for sticking to his guns, for being patient and respectful, and for not treating us like a distraction from 'something more important'. 

I am sure it's a lot of hard work (to listen to everybody and their requests) and much behind-the-scenes agony to pull a wedding together but you would never guess, Bodega Ridge is a wonderfully relaxing and inspiring place, a little like the owner himself.

An initial call to the owner, Jesse, instilled confidence immediately . Subsequently, arrangements were overseen by his gracious and knowledgeable general manager Pamy. These two are gold standard bearers for the hospitality industry. The magnificent location with perfect weather most definitely added to everyone's enjoyment. Staff were always available to assist, yet non-obtrusive. The ceremony was on a small hilltop outdoors (a short drive or five-minute walk from the lodge) with stunning views of ocean, mountains and forest. Nearby on site was the outdoor reception (canopy overhead). The food was superb and local for both the rehearsal dinner and for the wedding night. We opted for a buffet style reception dinner with a choice of salmon or beef - the chef and staff ensured that every bite was scrumptious! The paella for the rehearsal dinner featured local seafood and was enthusiastically devoured. It is important to keep in mind when considering Bodega that the resort is located at the north end of Galiano whereas the ferry docks at the south end - a 20-35 minute drive. Amenities such as restaurants, stores, gas station, etc. are at the south end; some planning is required. The seven cabins are well-equipped with fine kitchen facilities and are comfortable and charming. Incidentally, the photographer who is highly experienced informed us that Bodega is a dream shoot due to the setting and the way the natural light dances and reflects amongst the trees, hills and cabins. Although this review has sprung from a wedding, we heartily recommend Bodega for a multitude of other uses including personal stays, retreats and conferences. For a refreshing, laid-back experience we recommend Bodega Ridge.
